What's in season in June 2017, and other timely information:

June brings with it Spring and the ability to buy locally, especially in the deep South where fresh strawberries are available in Florida and Texas, followed by California. Cold weather crops, like spinach, some lettuces, peas, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, leeks and early onions being harvested in all but the colder regions. Many markets still have fresh winter squash, stored from last Autumn.

Some times they have a pick you own area, but most of it comes right out of the field on the harvester truck(you actually watch the truck come out of the field) and can ask what days each field is to be harvested so that you can get the field that you think looks best. The owners are always right there on location and will not let you take corn that they beleive might be of poor quality. This is the best corn and I usually get 2 50 pound bags a year. The farm itself is beautiful." (ADDED: July 19, 2009, suggested by a visitor)
